Roll the log, with cant hook or peavey. Usually so easy I didn't think to get a picture. Even huge logs can be rolled with other equipment we carry, such as Hi-Lift Extreme Jacks, or rope with vehicle or winch power.
Put the log on wheels with a Logging Arch. For logs up to 26" diameter and 1 ton. Pull the arch by hand, by rope (truck or winch) or (see photo) by tow tongue attachment to vehicle. Logs are moved without ground damage, from almost any location.
Log-Rite Fetching Arch with tow tongue attachment used to move 2200 pound 13 foot oak log.
Pull the log. I carry 100 feet of chain, and 200 feet of 3/4 inch, 20,000 pound rope with matching pulleys. Haven't yet met any log to be sawn, that couldn't be moved with these. The main limitations are access and grounds sensitivity. Redirecting the line of pull with pulleys is very effective and doesn't hurt trees.
Pull the log 1. This tree to be removed from pond.
Pull the log 2: tree trunk is sawn in two and upper log rigged for pull with rope. Opening day of fishing season and I am waist deep in my waders with a Stihl 090 Chainsaw and 41" bar.
Pull the log 3: rope passes through pulley rigged to spar tree with timber hitch, then to F-350 4x4 truck. Lift on log reduces ground friction, no problem.
Pull the log 4: Main log is rigged for pull, but we have a visitor, and must wait.
